Flower crab is also known as the Blue Swimmer Crab and is commonly found along our shorelines! The males have longer pincers and are bright blue in colour with attractive patterns while the females are a duller green or brown. It is one of Singaporean’s favourite seafood dish

Texture
The flesh is very sweet and tender but the yield (shell to flesh ratio) is lower as compared to the Sri Lanka Mud Crabs.

Approximately 2-5 whole pieces, but actual number of pieces will depend on the weight.

Cooking Methods

Can be added to make Crab Bee Hoon Soup, simply steamed with butter and garlic, or stir fried with a variety of sauces like chilli crab paste, black or white pepper sauce, salted egg yolk etc.

They are easy to cook and their shells is not as hard as the mud crabs. Before cooking them, you can use the top of your knife (Blunt end) to simply knock on the shell to crack it so that its easier to peel and eat the crab meat after cooking.
