There are limited varieties of wild caught prawns being sold locally, so if youre looking for something different, then you must definitely try the white whisker prawns. Its kind of a good mix between taste and texture and you get the best of both worlds in this prawn!
Many hawkers selling our local favourite “Fried Hokkien mee” uses these prawns for their stock as it is very flavourful. As these are wild caught, so each batch sizes would vary from time to time.
The flesh is more tender yet slightly chewy as well. The sweetness yet briny aftertaste is unparalleled as compared to other varieties of prawns.
We recommend simply steaming these prawns and dipping into some light soy sauce and freshly-cut chillies.
They are also excellent for steamboats, simply just dip the whole prawns in to get a flavourful broth.
These prawns are also versatile in their cooking methods and you can pretty much use them as a side or main ingredient in your culinary recipes!
